The difference between social media marketing and search engine marketing is that people who are actively searching for a product are more poised to buy.

For example, if you’re searching on Google for a pink turtleneck sweater, chances are you’re ready to buy this item. And this often isn’t the case with social media. With social media marketing, users might simply become intrigued, but this doesn’t mean they’re at the point along the buyer’s journey where a sale is imminent.

As such, you’re going to need to set up a paid search channel where your site will be ranked higher in the form of a keyword-activated ad. Once someone searches for your product keywords, your product will pop up on their search engine results page (SERP).

It’s good to note here that paid search is not organic traffic. This is something that you’ll have to generate on your own through networking, advertising, and the like.
